Monster Kendama Guide
In lighthouse, you hold the tama and balance the ken's base cup on top of it. The trick rewards a vertical pull and a patient catch. Grip helps, but alignment and knee timing decide whether the ken stands or slides away.
Start in a readable position
Use tama grip with the hole facing to the side or slightly upward, depending on comfort. Let the ken hang straight with the base cup visible. Stop any swinging before you pull.
Pull the ken vertically
Rise smoothly and give the ken enough lift to bring the base cup above the tama. Keep the tama underneath it. As the base cup arrives, bend your knees so both objects descend together.
Balance, do not freeze
Use tiny movements from the hand and knees to keep the ken centered. Watch the contact point. If the lighthouse leans, move the tama gently under the falling side instead of making a sudden correction.
Diagnose the miss
A forward fall suggests an angled pull. A bounce suggests a hard catch. An immediate slide may come from tilt, dust or a very slick finish. Clean surfaces gently and work on a softer landing before blaming equipment.
Frequently asked questions
Does sticky paint make lighthouse easier?
It can provide more friction, but it cannot replace a vertical pull and soft catch.
Where should I look?
Focus near the contact point between the base cup and tama.
What should I learn after lighthouse?
Work on falling in, then controlled lighthouse flips once the basic balance is dependable.
